COMS' modem business will see nice gains with less competitors and coming computer upgrade cycle.>> Was reading Computer Reseller News yesterday re: V90 modems. They said in January'97 manufacturers' forecast was for 20MM units - actual total was 11MM. Forecast for this year is 40MM units, per CRN. Also, CSCO just cut prices on their 8510 line by about 40%. 8510 competes with the CB3500, and even with the price cuts it's stil about 35% more expensive. Price cuts on new products like the 8510 usually only occur when they are out of whack with competitive products and they're sitting with a ton of inventory. I think both are true. CB3500 on the other hand, is one of COMS' toughest products to get right now.
