There is no need for 'words' to cure this>>" I just wish I knew the magic words to reach people willing to jettison decades of evidence and research for something they read online." just one....Education...but that's not the only problem..,there have been 'cheaters' in the scientific communities over time..as well as some people lack the capacity and/or willingness to understand... Not to mention drugs approved that have had nasty side effects...eg Thalidomide... for one. And a pool of misunderstanding is found in the illiterate...last I 'read'...8% of USA being unread...and that's not counting 'newly arrived'...to be PC
