Actually, Kerry has been exploiting his Vietnam veteran status the moment he came back from Vietnam. From highly publicized statements about atrocities, to the fake tossing of his medals, to whatever happened in 1984 (which for some reason, you can recall correctly even though you weren't even in the 4th grade at the time like I was), to even the Democrat primaries for 2004, it's been something Kerry has been doing all his life.
