That's the lost lesson of Thanksgiving. I'd give that post 10 recs if I could. Secure property rights are the key. When producers know that their future products are safe from confiscation, they will take risks and invest. But when they fear they will be deprived of the fruits of their labor, they will do as little as possible. That is so abundantly obvious and has been proven true in so many ways over so many years that it makes me want to pull my hair out in frustration that so many people disbelieve or ignore that fact, even when living smack in the middle of the prosperity that property rights have produced.
