View .PPT Files WITHOUT PowerPoint - Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97 FREEWARE download.microsoft.com With the events of the past few weeks, there are a ton of emails being sent around with PowerPoint slideshows, groups of pictures which chronicle the events of September 11. However, a lot of people who receive them can't view them, because they come in a .PPT (MS PowerPoint) format, and if you don't have PowerPoint (a Microsoft business application which does not come with most PCs), you were left out. Until now, that is. Microsoft provides a free PowerPoint Viewer which will allow you to view the slideshows and presentations. Its functionality is limited in that you can't create .PPT files, but most people don't anyway. With PowerPoint Viewer installed, you just click on the email attachment (I'm assuming you're following the rules to make sure it's not a virus ;-) and PowerPoint Viewer will automatically pop up and show you the pictures. It's easy, free, and you can use it to look at pictures of happier occasions as well. From Microsoft - microsoft.com
