Well, I always use them when I've made a sizable gain in a stock over a short time span. It's also saved my ass on some losers that I probaly would've held on to had it not been for them, but I've also been picked off and not wanted to get back in.

In UNSN's case, as I remember volume was not terribly heavy (<100,000) and no news was on the wire. Just seems awful suspicicous, though if anyone has any ideas I'd like to know:

(1) If someone was manipulating, how did they make money on it, presumably there would have been enough buyers to keep the price reasonably stable on that volume.

(2) If someone was using insider info to do it (well obviously it's illegal) but do the shareholders who are hurt have any rights.

(3) Who do you go see if this seems to be the case.

This was a relatively small holding for me and I came out ahead, but I'd really like to know for future reference (If I'm screwed, I'm screwed, but I'd like to know all the rules beforehand).
