Micron Article in Statesman - Sunday May 5

I posted this summary in the other thread, but didn't get any response. I am posting it again to see if anybody knows anything about the MicroStamp, or would care to investigate it.

The article stated that Micron was going to release the RFID chip this summer. The President of Micron Communications stated that in five years the MicroStamp will be as common to the public as bar codes are now. The article also stated that the 35,000 square foot building to manufacture the MicroStamp will be completed in June and limited production to start soon after. The markets that he quoted were packages (UPS, postal mail, etc.), groceries and other store items and credit card "smart cards". Basically anything that currently has a barcode on it now would be targeted for this product. I forsee that it could take off, because not only would reading the items, but theft would be harder.

If they can capture this market it will be huge and release them from the DRAM cycle.

What do people think?
