Alf, << MSU's ISP chip. >> I have no way of knowing who's building
it or what the design looks like. It's not like I'm in direct
communication with MSU's staff. I've had some experience with
phone line modem chips when 28.8 was standard and we were building
56k's for 3com, U.S.Robotics at the time, but never with the wide
bandwidth chips used in cable modems. TI was focused on broad bandwidth over phone lines. ADSL. I wasn't part of that team. Also
their leading edge DSP solutions were in a completely different
department I had no association with. .72 micron was the smallest
geometries I worked with. Processing techniques were refined 1.2 micron processes. Around .5 micron down to .35 micron had new techniques,
while .25 down to .18 again was new. Research had begun even below
that. The laws of physics begin to come into play. When device
channel lenghts are below the wavelength of visible light, it's
like entering a world of magic to me. Exposures with deep uv's and
x-rays are being looked at. I think Samsung works mostly with
x-ray. I'll have to try and find one person I knew from SSPIF awhile
back who worked on DUV research. She was awesome, but don't remember
her name. She's probably floating around on a related thread. Looks like a bad market day on it's way. Time to get to work on it.
