Not immune to the volatility of AXC, as one investor, I try to keep reminding myself of certain things. Ampex will not, even in a best case scenario, achieve truly deep market penetration with KM until they have a full year of KM working in MR drives. '99 at the soonest. They still have through June to negotiate another deal for a full '98 in inductive drives. I seriously doubt if the preamp is a significant problem They have held keeper related channel electronic patents for years. Likewise their other core products and revenue streams are really just beginning to take shape. They will soon begin to cut through the comparative fogs, and given the excellence of those products and the rapidly growing markets they address, their incipient growth should continue to accelerate for years. The lack of KM news does not bother me. The drop in backlog is a nice piece of information. Guess my point is, AXC is an excellent long term investment or nothing at all. To my mind ....and that's where my money is ....the odds still heavily favor the former.
