I agree, what we need here is what happened in the PC industry, buyouts and mergers in order to have only a few left, all making good margins. There currently are too many players. COMS, CSCO, CABLETRON, BAY, FORE, XYLAN, ASND, etc, etc, etc. Each eating into each others profits. Look at the xDSL space. I think my mother is actually working on a xDSL solution. Consolidation will be good. I do not think it is over yet; although, mergers seem to be looked upon as evil lately as merging larger companies becomes very difficult, and the investment community seems to look down on this type of stuff. It will be an interesting 1998.
