All the major semi manufacturers have there R&D for developing new products using new equipment. Intel dosen't just go and buy the latest AMAT product, there pilot line tries out equipment and when they are happy they recommend the production lines upgrade to produce the latest chip. NVLS could gain market share if AMAT dosen't have a copper product out to compete soon. Intel does copy exact at there fabs, if NVLS wins in Cu it would be huge for them and a tremendous blow to AMAT. The same is true for 300mm, it is a new tool set and no one has won the battle of first in fab yet.
