Big John, funny you should bring her to this forum. When I just came to this country, I got to a conference in New York, and went down to the corner "friendly bar" to down a beer or two. Well, at that time my knowledge of the vernacular was absolutely zero. If an english sentence did not include a term like "field strength" or other esoteric technobabble, I was lost.
Well, a lady dressed in a fashion that revealed more than necessary, approached me saying very timidly, "would you like to party". Well, not knowing what was going on (remember I was still basically a farmer in those days), and wanting to be friendly, I replied : "Sure, where?" (not too difficult for an English challenged young man). To which she replied: "It will be $200". I was taken aback, for only for a split second, suddenly, I realized that seeing "Irma La Douce", was not a waste after all, I replied at once: "Oh, I am sory my lady, but I usually charge $300". She disappeared without any additional utterings.
They never told us about ladies of the night on the farm (kibbutz) where I was raised, but good Irma saved the day.
