Calixto told Sal every part of the chicken is used. Chicken byproducts such as beaks, bones, and feet are ground up, processed, and used as protein in such things as dog food and feed supplements.

Another really intriguing aspect of Pipasa. Calixto Chaves explained to Sal that Pipasa feeds its chickens pure corn meal along with some chicken protein byproducts. Calixto told Sal that in America, chickens are fed fish meal. So what, you say? Well, you know with all the publicity about salmonella poisoning that 50% of our chicken is infested with this dangerous disease. Calixto went on to say that there has been no reported case of salmonella poisoning in Costa Rica!!!!

I know, chicken is well cooked and the disease is killed by the cooking of the chicken. But if an informed housewife had the choice of bringing that disease into her home or not, what do you think she would do? Salmonella can be spread to uncooked food such as salad simply by handling it with improperly washed hands. Salmonella is extremely dangerous. I don't know whether Pipasa's chicken really is salmonella-free, but if it is, I think that could be extremely important.

I said in my Monday email that I called Sal about the stock reaching the long term trend line but Sal said he doesn't pay attention to long term trend lines. He says he likes the stock down here (in other words, he thinks it's a buy).
