EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2004-- Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN), a leading provider of communications services for multinationals, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Gearbulk, Inc., a leading international shipping company, to manage its global network. Under the terms of the agreement, Infonet will provide Gearbulk with MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching)-enabled IP VPN Secure, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) and Managed Firewall Services in support of 25 locations in Europe, Asia and the Americas. After a recent search of global communications providers, Gearbulk chose Infonet as its network partner, highlighting Infonet's ability to provide a resilient and high performing network, complemented by stringent service level agreements (SLAs). Infonet's IP VPN solution for Gearbulk will replace its existing wide area network (WAN) that served nine of the Company's sites.
Gearbulk's IP VPN runs over the private MPLS-enabled IP infrastructure of Infonet's The World Network®, a secure and prioritized environment which supports Class of Service (CoS) to ensure the appropriate transmission of each of Gearbulk's classes of traffic, including an enterprise wide suite of Oracle e-business applications.
"We've been consistently impressed with Infonet's understanding of the challenges we face as a global business, and our organization's need for a reliable communications network," said Ramon Ferrer, vice president of Information Technology, Gearbulk. "We chose Infonet's IP VPN Secure because it gives us that reliable service, while the stringent and flexible service level agreements give us the capability to benchmark the performance of the network, providing us with a stable platform from which to roll out our applications."
"Gearbulk's decision to choose Infonet for its global network is a reflection of our continuing strength in designing, delivering and managing IP infrastructures for multinational shipping organizations," said Robert Cavan, managing director of Infonet UK. "We are very pleased to begin this relationship with Gearbulk, and look forward to providing them with innovative communications services in support of their current and future needs."
In addition to providing an IP VPN Secure WAN, Gearbulk is utilizing Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) from Infonet. DIA is a reliable and scalable worldwide Internet access service that provides managed Internet connectivity in 55 countries. Complemented by industry-leading SLAs and a comprehensive suite of service and security features, the service is ideally suited to building Internet-based IP VPNs.
Gearbulk has also deployed Infonet's Managed Firewall Services to deliver perimeter security that will protect sites within their network from unauthorized access and abuse. |
