Call for Senator Clinton to resign from the Senate Armed Services Committee

In view of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's racist statement on January 16th, 2006, which adds to a history of racial insensitvity, I call on her to immediately step down from membership on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

We the members of the Armed Forces, both present and past find her statements inflamatory and show a pattern of a lack of moral turpitude which a US Senator representing our National Defense should exhibit.

Hillary Clinton's Racist Joke

Date: 2005-12-11, 10:20AM EST

New York Senator Hillary Clinton has felt obliged to apologize for making a joke about Indian independence hero Mahatma Gandhi having worked as a gas station manager in Saint Louis, Missouri.

The apology followed Clinton's remarks at a weekend fund-raiser, where she joked that Gandhi once "ran a gas station down in Saint Louis" — a stereotypical job for South Asians in the United States.

She also stated that "Indians yearn to the days when the whole sub-continent of 1B people was efficiently ruled by 2000 British civil servants."
