OT-Motorola, my background for that and earlier more aggressive attacks on Motorola is something
somebody tried to explain for me long time ago, didnt really "get it", until I was reminded of
it some time ago, that is

- Mototoral was "forced" to become really aggressive, tricky, etc, etc when trying to exist, progress
and "evolve" with and within the Ma Bell monopoly, both operator and manufacturer, etc of US.
(this is obviously banana-stuff, as United Fruits was the greates anti-trust before that)

Additionally towards attacks from "down-under", "between a hard place and a rock" of big monopoly,
regular manipulation and small stuff from "below", additionally the more horizontical fight with Intel-MSFT.
(suing any small company or start-up, more lawyers than engineers,etc,etc.. and bringing that
into the GSM world)

And becoming kind of a monopoly in that situation, "internal competition", playing out
departments against each other,etc..

On the other hand, great Bell's Lab, AT&T micro electronics, whatever, DSPs, RF and satellites,
Shannons and all, great stuff, becoming great privatized Lucent,etc,etc..

Plus all the maneuvering of military stuff, coding codexes, modems, rockwells and space shuttles
through time and history, with the lonely star of Texas Instruments, Patriot missiles, AMD and
great slice, RISC processors, and Intel ones again (skipping IBM and that never hyping
tele-guru Ungerboeck)

Well, Viterbi and Wozencraft-Jacobs too, not forget 110-220V, NTSC-PAL, 56-64kbps, etc..

Anyway, just as Seybold, etc has cracked some good humor on PCs, maybe Orwellianowsky
could learn some flash-construction from Hammonds, as there is a Marconi-macarena-view
to the whole thing too, with a little siemens-grundig-philips, alcatel (who was the other french
one, long time ago??) and not to forget the italians (SGS-thomson-etc-etc-and-Beatles-EMI-
Racal-Vadic-whatever)

Ilmarinen

Plus Ericsson, of course, and then those finns.. that soft tissue and rubber boot thing, working
within the tzarian telecom regulation of 1864(?) and Popov doing his great antenna rescue
just outside St Peterburg, in Finland.

That is, thanks to this russian tzar-guy, who did not monopolize such things as telephones
for the state, finland started out with local, privatized, later on competing operators as
well as local manufacturers, as well as a need to cooperate, no dream of conquering
by pure might of great revenue and great market..
(or so the urban legend goes)

Anyway, sorry for being so mean on Motorola, they did their share of spanking in their
spanking enviroment.
