Things may also change next year when a massive implementation project gets in the way of a y2k compliance audit. Wait until the entire board of directors has to sign off on some continuing operations contingency clause in the financial disclosure statements next year. Imagine if the CIO says, "Well, this project might put us at risk for y2k compliance, so how's the D&O liability insurance looking?"

I wouldn't say TTF's comments are invalid, but, it might not be as extreme as he's saying. To be safe, in enterprise apps, I'm looking for very low asp's, rapid implementation (under 3 months) rapid payoff and the ability for the project to come out of departmental budgets.
