I really don't know much about the dynamics of the oil drilling sector, however, I believe you said that the day to day price swings in oil mean little to the drillers.

I became interested in them, and began reading some of their SEC documents, one in particular I read was NE Noble Drilling, in one of those reports it specifically mentions oil prices and how that could affect it's bottom line.

I don't know if you are referring to normal fluctuations or trends in prices, but from what it seems those reports are saying, a downward trend in prices would definitely affect day rates in the oil driller's sectors.
