There was a good program on PBS last night: "nature of the planet about global warming and especially the 2010 drought. I was thinking the ME had a terrible drought and pervasive food shortages. This may continue with GW.

Their population has soared because of oil wealth and now that is diminishing, and they live in a desert area, so how do they survive going forward? The land cannot sustain them.

And they are using up their aquifers.

56,000 people in Russia died form the wild fires.
