>Nortel is a big customer, but AMCC sells into 4 divisions spread out over the world - so its a little more diversified than one would think.<

thanks -- i did some digging and for the benefit of others on the board, the four Nortel divisions are Calgary for the Metrocell line, Montreal for ASICs, Europe for OC-12 devices, and essentially Bay Networks (via Cimaron design wins).

btw, BD, what do you think of VTSS finally cracking the mighty Nortel?

other tidbits during the quarter:

* 15 new products released (11 - SONET, 2 - Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel, 2 - OC-192 SONET). 9 - SiGe, 6 - CMOS.

* OC-48 product revenue increased 74% sequentially to $15.6M; OC-12 product revenue was $8.5M. thus, OC-12 and -48 represent roughly 64% of this quarter's revenue.

* Lucent represented $1.1M of sales (which is just under 3%), but wins will boost this number as they ramp over time.

* Cimaron's framers & mappers are securing design wins in previously-unavailable markets.

* Fab utilization is roughly 75%. AMCC will spend $5M in Q3 to increase capacity and more next year for increasing demand.

* Book-to-bill = 1.15 overall; 1.2 for comm business. 12-month backlog was $47.5M; $36.8M shippable in the next three months.

* DSOs down to 45 days versus 60 in the previous quarter.

* Hi/fn is low-fi (noise).
