NTT DoCoMo to Form US Internet Venture With AOL, Yomiuri Says

Tokyo, Aug. 22 (Bloomberg) -- NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan's biggest mobile phone company, will this year form a joint venture in the U.S. with America Online Inc. to provide mobile Internet services, the Yomiuri newspaper said in its online edition, without citing sources.

The joint venture will allow AOL's 23 million members to get online with the use of DoCoMo's i-mode mobile technology.

NTT DoCoMo will also become the biggest shareholder in AOL Japan, which is now 50 percent owned by the U.S. parent.

NTT DoCoMo yesterday fell 100,000 yen to 2.59 million. America Online rose 1 15/16 to 56 13/16.
