I take your word for it that the risk of cancer does increase when a woman has an abortion without going full term first.

I don't know that. I've just seen the reports claiming it. I don't think it's even close to being proven.

You may recall the flip-flops re menopausal women taking estrogen. The question of ABS is about estrogen, too. I don't think they have much of a handle on how that works.

The link between childless women and breast cancer is the one I've followed closely. Apparently having had kids is a plus re breast cancer. Beyond that, they haven't sufficiently differentiated.

Here's the link to the SD site if anyone wants to see for himself. They talk only about the immediate effects of various reproductive choices, not long term health risks so I don't think there's anything intellectually dishonest about leaving out this one bit. OTOH, they could have added it without its sticking out like a sore thumb. There are already a few cats and dogs in there.

This "Consensus Science" remark got me.

I don't think that's what Crichton had in mind when he spoke of consensus science. The process used is peer review, which is a key part of the scientific method. Peer review identifies whether the study showed what it's supposed to have done. Consensus science is about experts in a given area voting based on their own professional opinions of the truth of something.
