Bush's Iraq scam is the single worst and most costly blunder ever for the USA, worse than Vietnam since in those days at least we had the excuse of the Cold War domino theories being perhaps viable, though they were all proven to be bogus later on.
The fact is Bush-Cheney and cronies wanted to invade Iraq to grab its oil for Exxon, Chevron, Halliburton and Shell, then to jack up oil prices on us all, use the war as a scare and patriotism tactic to hold onto power through the next election, and at the same time they were willing to let Bin Laden go, give up the progress in Afghanistan, make up lies about WMD, smear anyone who questioned them with lies and shun the goodwill of the whole world.
While the Vietnam War debt was humongous as we lost many more troops, the Iraq debacle debt is looking to dwarf Vietnam's, making it possible that that debt alone could destroy our economy and throw us into some kind of a stagflationary depression for the next 5+ years.
Now, five years since Bushies declared "mission accomplished" we have a new mission, to make sure no Bushie or Bush-lite type leader ever has control of our military again. Frankly, we just cannot afford it. |
