Though I am all for eliminating welfare, I am realistic in that it ain't going away in my lifetime. However, I think that anyone receiving any type of welfare should be required to take periodic drug tests. There's no way that we the people should be obligated to support someone who is trying to destroy their lives.

Well that's a whole nother discussion.

Add to that they should be looking for a job and have proof that they tried. Years and years ago, I lost a job and went on unemployment insurance. This was back when you had to go to the office every 2 weeks, stand in line to be interviewed about your job hunting efforts, produce actual verifiable efforts and then stand in another line to get your check if you could prove you were making an effort to find a job. They made it embarrassing and difficult to collect the check.

Now you only have to go in one time and "prove" you need money and the checks come like clockwork in the mail. No follow-up to see if circumstances have changed.
