A good point, albeit not the one you originally made. But let's go through the situation. You are trained in security for a government. Your job is to get a rescued hostage out of a country that is under occupation of a friendly power. The area is unstable and dangerous, what do you do? Well, if you are even moderately competent, you will contact a local commander and tell him precisely what you are doing. This reduces the possible danger by a lot. It also should smooth your path. Now you may not have contacted said commander for some reason. Two possible reasons might be there isn't time or you have orders not to do that. The lack of time is pretty weak, the orders might have been issued because your government wanted to keep things quiet. If so, you should have put up an argument because it increases the risk, but they might not listen...

A question that has never been answered is, was such contact ever made? If not, why not? If so, why did things happen like they did?
