Esteban,

So far I am using TCP/IP, but agree with you about using a routable protocol for networking, although I think we are in a minority at the present time. NetBEUI seems to be on the way out. I guess it is my lack of education about this stuff that makes it hard for me to change.<g>

Yes, the Netgear router I am using (RP114) does have a NAT firewall. I have been told not to rely on it entirely, and my recent experience seems to bear that out. That is my reason for adding the software firewall. I have 3 computers networked. My Micron600, my wife's laptop and and old Pentium 200 that we use for backing up data from the other two. My current plan is two install a firewall on our 2 and maybe the freebe from Zone Labs on the back up machine. During trading hours we both have streaming quotes using Medved's QuoteTracker software. I have had no problem using Black Ice on my machine with QuoteTracker but it is an old version and until a few weeks ago we had a 26.4k dial up connection using ICS. I think hackers would have gotten to bored to bother us. lol

Once I get things squared away I will definitely switch to NetBEUI for file and print sharing.
