Aeroports de Paris, ADP, Selects Unisys to Install Efficient, Universal Passenger Processing System
Single Unisys System Connects to Multiple Airline Host Systems for Better Customer Service and Passenger Handling, Reduced Training Requirements
BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1999-- Unisys Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Aeroports de Paris (ADP), a leading European airport authority that is responsible for operating the airports in and around Paris.

The contract calls for Unisys to implement its Airport Passenger Processing System (APPS) at Charles De Gaulle and Orly Airports. Once operational, agents at the two airports will be able to use one common, friendly system for seamless access to multiple airline host systems.

With the European aviation industry becoming more and more competitive, airports are continually looking for ways to enhance and differentiate their services. With APPS, Aeroports de Paris can automate the check-in, boarding and departure processes at Charles De Gaulle and Orly Airports to make travel easier and more convenient for passengers.

''Aeroports de Paris selected Unisys because of its proven history of installing reliable passenger processing solutions in airports throughout the world,'' said Jean Verdier, head of the IT Department, Aeroports de Paris. ''APPS provides us with a common language front-end for load planning that runs on multiple airline host systems -- one of our key requirements. It will also reduce agent training requirements, while increasing staff efficiency and providing more personalized customer service.''

APPS is a user-friendly, PC-based suite of software tools that airlines, airports and ground handlers use to process passengers and baggage in a quick and easy manner. APPS automates important procedures, such as reservations, check-in, boarding control and baggage reconciliation.

Aeroports de Paris will implement three modules of the APPS suite, including Check-In Assistant, Boarding Control Assistant and Load Planning Assistant.

The modules will put intuitive Windows-type graphical screens at agents' fingertips, enabling them -- with minimal training - to retrieve customer information in seconds, then check-in passengers and baggage, and complete reservations and departure control procedures more quickly and efficiently.

Unisys is currently installing the new passenger processing system at the Charles De Gaulle and Orly Airports with cutover to live production scheduled for second quarter 1999. Once the system becomes operational, Aeroports de Paris will have three airlines utilizing APPS at the two airports, with other airlines scheduled to go online in the future.

''Aeroports de Paris (ADP) is already recognized among the world's leaders for world-class customer service and on-time flight departures. We're pleased they are relying on Unisys to strengthen their services even more,'' said Bruce Wheat, vice president of operations management systems, Unisys Worldwide Transportation.
