Have been looking at things some more. I'm thinking whether Trump comes into the convention with enough delegates to win on the first ballot will depend on CA on 6/7. It's a winner take all state with 172 delegates and the primary is closed, so Democrats can't come in and vote for Trump. If Trump comes in first in CA, he wins the nomination. If he doesn't come in first in CA, then he'll come in with over 1200 delegates but not quite enough to put him over the top. And the first ballot won't give a nominee and the delegates in later balloting will be unbound.

But hey, if Trump is a supreme dealmaker, he'll be able to make a deal to give him the nomination, right?

I have no idea what CA Republicans are like so have no idea how CA will go.
