11/8/2019 Contest update
Let the trumpets blare! The Contest crown now rests firmly on HOOD’s portfolio! It was blasted to the lead by CNST, which zoomed higher after reporting positive clinical data. CNST is now the top gaining Contest portfolio stock, up an astounding 671% YTD and HOOD’s portfolio is now up 127.37% YTD.
Although CNST is only held by HOOD’s portfolio, it was a wild week for the most popular Contest stock, FGEN, held by 18 of the 39 portfolios. Driven lower by a short hit piece, FGEN managed to rebound on good MACE data Friday and closed up 4% for the week.
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 13.73% YTD (vs. up 16.05% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 14.00% YTD (vs. up 13.31% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 16.58% YTD (vs. up 16.13% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 27.73% YTD (vs. up 26.39% YTD a week ago).
As pronounced above, HOOD’s portfolio is the new Contest leader with a 127.37% YTD gain! BULBA’s portfolio, up 70.45% YTD, dropped to second place and DEWO’s portfolio, up 64.40% YTD, has moved into third place.
At Friday's close, 29 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, while 19 were beating the NBI and the same 19 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 21.55% but still a median YTD loss of now -2.18%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments:
1) TCON did a 1-10 reverse split.
2) GHDX buyout by EXAS closed with GHDX getting per share $27.50 in cash and .45043 EXAS shares.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and relaxing Veteran’s Day weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
