I find his caveats realistic.

We are now stuck there, like a tarbaby, for the next ten years. Same thing with Afghanistan. There, we are supporting a central Government that has little tribal support. It's being totally undercut by our requirement that it attack the Poppy crop. Which is far and away the most profitable crop in that country.
