Berney, I'm using DATEK and DREYFUS Dreyfus (formaer Pacific, www.tradepbs.com) has a very good information and link system. Response-times are good, even at rush-hours. Best commissions for small option-trades. Weak: No secure pages, no realtime-portfolio, no realtime-price-information except in a confirmation-page. Account-status quite complicated. You cannot handle your account and your money via internet - a result of their missing security. DATEK has sometimes slow reactions, but trades are executed and confirmed very quickly. Very user-friendly rules and information. Confirmations by email. Weak: No options. Bad statements (chaos & co) BOTH: You need additional realtime-systems. They don't offer bank-services like creditcards. They cannot trade outside your Island. They cannot handle foreign currencies. I got wrong portfolios and wrong statements, but - after claiming that - they promptly corrected their mistakes. However, you cannot trust in what they account. (My tax-advisors made harder tries to burn my money...) My former broker used Pershing as clearing-service, they was working very well - but I couldn't found a CHEAP broker using Pershing so far.
