"The initial Gartner Group estimate that the total cost of correcting the Y2K problem worldwide would total $300 billion to $600 billion was originally thought excessive by some. For example, J.P. Morgan conducted an independent analysis and estimated the total corrective cost for the Y2K problem worldwide to be in the range of $200 billion. Recently, however, J. P. Morgan reevaluated their $200 billion estimate and advised that the Gartner Group estimate might not be as "outrageously high" as originally thought."
