Thanks for pasting lurqer's post here. Somehow I'd missed it and I really like what he said. The subject of money is very emotionally "loaded", like sex, politics, and religion, and might be a great weekend topic here at some point, if the thread wanted to talk about it. For now, I'll make two brief points:

1. "All I could want" changes as money is made, for some the amount keeps climbing, an unattainable goal. For others, money becomes less significant as their own needs are met, and it develops other meaning.

2. There are a number of people on this thread (and across SI) who contribute a portion of their profits, on an ongoing basis, to help assuage the suffering of others. This is done privately, so one would find little mention of it here. I think what matters, in the end, is not the amount of money one makes, but the amount of money one shares.
