Generally, I'm having a pleasant experience with my two Jaz drives and seven disks. But there have been a couple of disks that have had bad blocks: I have had to recover the "bad" or corrupted data using Norton Utilities. To eliminate the bad blocks I reformatted the disks. Both work just fine now. But I'm wondering how many other people have had a similar experience with these pre-formatted disks. (Not too many, I hope.) I wonder if this is a quality control problem or if it is something to expect for such a large capacity. Incidentally, about 30-40 blocks (out of a possible 2,000,000) were bad from one of the disks. I'm bringing this subject up because this is one of the problems that will send people rushing to call tech support and cause them to wait hours for a response! By beefing up its QC, I suspect IOMG would be able to reduce the number of dependents on its tech support.

For the record, I have had bad block experiences with optical media too, and formatting them (even running a comprehensive diagnostic test) takes a long, long time (yes, much longer than formatting a Jaz disk).
