Good luck with your trading career - one tiny piece of advice if I may - please, please, please use a small number of shares while trading, until you have a whole bunch of experience in different market conditions. Shorting is not as easy as it looks. Your profit potential is limited, while your loss potential is not. And the worst is - you cannot short on a down tick*. By the time you manage to short, the stock is often at it's intraday bottom.

PS *technically there are ways around the DT rule, if you use a direct entry broker and use an ECN to post a sell a teeny above the bid, but often that is not practical. Linked accounts, boxing etc. has recently been reined in, so basically you're stuck with the DT.
