Wow! It was better than I expected. I'm glad we decided to spend most of our time in Maine. It is an exceptionally beautiful state. The Adirondacks in upstate New York were fantastic as were the Green & White mountains of Vermont & New Hampshire with the fall foliage at or near prime everywhere we went. Cape Cod was nice, but suffered from some poor planning on my part. NYC was, well, NYC - the wife had a great time there as it was her first trip there. And State College (AKA - Penn State University) was splendid as was the trip to & from there.

My biggest disappointment was Caribou Maine. I had always wanted to go there ever since I was a child (no particular reason other than it seemed very remote & it's name evoked visions of rugged outdoorsmen surrounded by vast wilderness). Caribou turned out to be the junkiest little hamlet in the state that was as hard to traverse as any large city in the USA. It's streets wound around confusingly with weird intersections that connected as many as 7 or 8 different streets - most without any traffic lights. Caribou was surrounded by vast wilderness, but so did most of the state.

I could go on & on about all the wonderful sites we saw, but I won't bore you all to death. We shot a ton of pictures that are being developed. Once I go through them I'll post a link to them for those who may be interested.
