PHILADELPHIA, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Compoze Software, Inc., a leading provider of collaboration software for portals and enterprise applications, today announced the expansion of its existing alliance with BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS), the world's leading application infrastructure software company. As part of the expanded alliance, Compoze and BEA are announcing a fully integrated suite of portlets designed to access the most widely used features and functionality of Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino directly from BEA WebLogic Portal(TM) 8.1, with significantly enhanced ease of installation and customization for portal customers.

Collaboration has been identified as a major requirement for portal deployments in corporations. The addition of collaboration to a corporate portal helps drive portal adoption by providing users access to and use of collaborative applications from within the context of their portal. By integrating collaborative applications that are used repeatedly throughout the day, like email and calendar, corporations help ensure that employees will use the portal on a consistent basis and in turn increase workforce productivity. Collaboration inside a portal provides the ideal foundation for introducing content and vertical business applications.

"Compoze is the leading provider of collaboration portlets which can expose full Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino functionality within BEA WebLogic Portal," said Ken Goldberg, senior director of market development, BEA Systems. "By including Compoze's collaboration capabilities with BEA WebLogic Portal, customers can drive much wider adoption of the portal, resulting in significantly enhanced workforce productivity and mobility."

There are several types of Compoze portlets available to BEA WebLogic Portal customers. These portlet suites include personal productivity portlets (email, calendar, contact and task portlets that use a relational database), interactive portlets (threaded discussion, real-time chat and visual whiteboard portlets) and integration portlets (integration to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino). Each portlet suite is built from a flexible Java API that can provide full extensibility. In addition, all of the portlets are designed to be customized to meet specific business requirements or tailored to meet the specific look and feel requirements of any portal.

"The combined offering from BEA and Compoze reinforces the shared vision of both our companies to deliver robust collaborative functionality within the context of a corporate portal," said Scott Andress, executive vice president of business development for Compoze Software. "To date we have had numerous joint customer successes and look forward to continuing to provide our shared customers with proven solutions."

Compoze Portlets for Microsoft Exchange, BEA WebLogic Edition, and Compoze Portlets for Lotus Domino, BEA WebLogic Edition are both available for download from bea.com. For further information about Compoze Software, please visit compoze.com.
