WIND's 2Q financial report continues a most peculiar phenomenon. Here are the reported revenues for the last six quarters in reverse order.

fiscal 1996:
2Q 15,000
1Q 12,600
fiscal 1995:
4Q 13,800
3Q 11,400
2Q 10,100
1Q 8,700

Reported revenue numbers can be expected to fall into nice round hundred thousand values by chance now and then, say, one time in a hundred. The probability that this would occur by chance six quarters in a row are 0.01 raised to the sixth power or 0.000000000001.
Please, no prizes for my discovery that companies manage their reported results. What is interesting here is that WIND does not want to hide this fact but rather advertise it.

I know that WIND really ticked off the analysts back in fiscal 1994 when they fell far short of the "guidance" which they had provided. This appears to be a not so subtle message that they are no longer scrambling to meet the estimates at the end of each quarter and are now comfortably ahead of the game. If so, we may be able to look forward to a smooth ride without the potholes.
