There's a new book out -- forgot the title -- that was reviewed in the paper today. The guy comments on CNBC, analysts, financial newspapers, etc. He concludes these people have the vision of a person walking in a blizzard. The more I learn about investing, the more I realize that I and 99% of the other people who buy stocks and follow them on Yahoo are shooting in the dark. And what about the "locker room" talk? Some of these little mutual admiration societies let the people feel like big shots, but where's the proof? What's their ten year record? I saw people a few years ago that were so cocky they acted like gods, yet now in light of how the markets have played out it's obvious they were 100% wrong.
I wouldn't let a doctor who lacked experience in a certain type of operation perform it on me for the first time, even if they are a doctor.
Most on line investors aren't even "doctors." These people I see on SI ... 99% have no idea what they're doing. So far some are doing OK, because the markets have been in such an uptrend for so long. But they're not doing as well as they should, and they're taking huge risks without even knowing it.
For now they seem to be having fun.... |
