The SGI thread has been focusing on marketing as an issue for the problems they've been facing. Don't know if I agree with all the sentiments there, but it made me think about AAPL.

Just saw yet another of those "Where do you want to go?" ads on TV.

What's up here? Apple buys relatively expensive print ads in the NTY and WSJ (for print ad prices) and no TV spots!?!

The stupid "funky white boy" campaign by intel and MS's "Where" campaign are kicking our butts!

Don't know the costs, but I would second any move to talk to the people (i.e., TV viewers) about the product, even if it costs more than print ads "targeted" at stockbrokers (who might raise a recommendation) and dilletantes who have other people do their computing for them.

Any thoughts?

Dirk
