I wish I knew the answer to that. I'd write a book & become a Zillionaire!
:-)
I'm simply not wired the way they are.
For one thing I don't pretend I'm a "centrist" even though most tests show that I am well within the parameters of what they deem to be a centrist. I know & have publicly acknowledged I support most mainstream conservative values, some quite strongly. I feel no need to pretend I'm anything but a mainstream conservative.
Admittedly, I'm biased. Admittedly I'm initially reluctant to accept evidence mounting that my POV is wrong. However, I simply cannot remain in denial of facts & credible evidence that clearly discredit my original POV. Instead, I willingly change my POV as time & events unfold. To me an evolving, reality based POV is exponentially more valuable than a rigidly, close minded, ideologically inflexible, reality defying POV.
I feel no need to baselessly project the absolute worst characteristics exhibited by my political party onto political parties with whom I ideologically disagree. Worse still is to continue to continue to pretend your party is pure as the driven snow by comparison.
I feel no need to baselessly project my worst personal characteristics onto those with whom I ideologically disagree. Worse still is to continue to continue to pretend you are pure as the driven snow by comparison.
I simply cannot comprehend the need to baselessly cast aspersions, to ridicule, name call, denigrate, smear, slander, engage in wanton calumny, character assassination or otherwise disparage those with whom I am in an ideological disagreement. Worse still is to regularly engage in this miscreant behavior in lieu of or as an integral part of debating the issues.
I feel no need to state my personal opinion (or that of others) as fact when there simply is no credible evidence to support those opinions. Worse still, to continue to do so long after the evidence has discredited that opinion.
I feel no need to engage in strawman arguments in order to cling to a faulty POV.
I simply cannot comprehend the need to justify intentionally lying, misleading or otherwise deceiving others because it's "for the greater good".
The list of things where I dramatically differ with most of the DMC, MSM & leftists could go on & on, but by now you get the drift. I simply can't fathom consistently acting or reacting in that manner because all of it is so foreign to my nature. And since they are so foreign to me I cannot begin to fathom why so many people actually think, act & live that way when it comes to political ideology.
All it does is establish how utterly weak your positions really are. It shows a lack of character, morals & ethics & a zealous, inflexible belief ("A secular faith? A worldview that satisfies emotional needs, so it can't be abandoned?") in an ideology in spite of reality. |
