How Britain has destroyed itself

A very good article and descriptive of the same sort of path that the US is in danger of following.

I've long had a theory that the UK's best and brightest and most energetic citizens dispersed around the globe during the glory days of the British Empire, enriching the Commonwealth (and US) at the expense of the old country.

The remaining gene pool tended to contain the more passive and status quo types, which has resulted in the majority of the populace accepting the semi Orwellian, politically correct, disaster of a nanny state that the UK has become today. I know first hand that many of the remaining best and brightest are still leaving.

I haven't read any of Fraser's writings but I'll make a point to do so. Right now I'm reading Doyle's Complete Sherlock Holmes, set in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Britain had a spine in those days..
