This morning, company announced the acquisition of leading Mexican financial institution, Grupo Financiero Banamex-Accival (Banacci), for $6.25 bln in cash and another $6.25 bln in Citigroup stock. Citigroup expects the transaction to be accretive to earnings in the first yr.

Japan up 1.58% with Toyota leading the way on favorable sales expectations going forward. Korea rose more than 4% with locals and foreigners scooping up blue-chip issues. Semiconductor shares led Taiwan higher, while technology also provided a boost for Singapore.
