Just one of the reasons I'm a bit of a cheerleader when it comes to BAM and am REALLY looking forward to VODABAM (Rah! Rah!). BAM (which of course includes the old NYNEX Mobile) had a heck of an easy job building out digital for the reasons you state, compared to, lets say, Omnipoint and Sprint PCS who had to build out the absolute toughest city in the world to build out (New York) from scratch. I went digital (dual-mode) when BAM first launched. My home and office (both about 5 miles off I-95 were (still are) several miles off BAM's digital coverage map. I was surprised when I got my Qualcomm QCP-800 home and to the office that I was on digital in both places but there is a golf course a few miles from here where I am digital on the front nine and AMPS on the back. The 13% of upgraded users really surprised me. VODABAM will fix that quick methinks. Maybe Nokia can get some of their CDMA models into BAM and help fix things? Have a Great Nokia Day! - Eric -
