Aftermath Media Debuts First Interactive DVD Movie...................

At first glance this might sound like a variation of a CD-ROM game, but Aftermath Media claims it is the first "truly interactive movie" on the new DVD format. The movie itself, entitled "Tender Loving Care" and starring John Hurt, is said to be a bonafide motion picture suitable for theatrical release. That is, except for the psychological thriller's interactive elements.

The main body of the movie was shot on 35mm film, with the interactive audio-visual elements woven in. As a result, viewers can take a break in the action to explore for themselves the characters' motivations and the movie's settings, as well as have a hand in directing how the actual story unfolds.

"Since TLC is an interactive motion picture, we want viewers to see it in a format that really does justice to its content," explains Aftermath Media co-founder David Wheeler. "DVD is the ideal platform."

While the Ashland, OR-based developer does not yet have distribution partnerships for the U.S., Canada or Asia, the DVD movie will be distributed in European countries by German company Funsoft Holdings.
