Re: Russell Horowitz lovefest
Synopsis: The guy cashes out 2 years ago, then watches with quiet wisdom as the GNET stock price languishes badly in place from Nasdaq 2,700 to 5,000 early '99 and 2K, shortly thereafter and somewhat predictably embarking on the long roller coaster descent. The "Who, me? No fear, dude! Wait till the next Q!!" mentality reigns supreme as the news stories get less, the metrics begin dropping significantly, and the competition makes ever more serious inroads. The coffee/social club clique keeps insisting that the man is an absolute unparalleled genius, and nothing bad can ever happen. Why, if there ever were such a thing as a bear market or recession, GNET and Russ would just adapt as necessary and "Do their thing" and all would be grand!
Then, as the major management decision and coup for the entire year, scrapping all previous plans, he emerges from the quiet solitude to cash in again selling all down the river of promise. Or is that the river deNial. This must have been the adaptation to swiftly changing circumstances, and a great show of leadership.
Once yet again, 1/01, the guy comes out as the big megabucks jackpot winner. Probably even bursting with new and improved options contracts galore in exchange for Uncle Paul Allens' $500 billion stash that just sat there gathering dust again under the direction of this wise smiling oracle who promised it's good use.... then switched it over in mid act. Surely as well there is now plenty of leisure time now to enjoy the fruits of labor. What a racket! ---------------------
The bleached teeth grin must be competing with the Cheshire Cat right about now. Yet even though no one here has even so much as sipped a cup of coffee with the fella, even with all the betrayal some still apparently revere him almost like a second coming of Christ. Now THAT is loyalty.... but for what now.
No matter that his bubbling admirers and their interests never were or are the abiding concern when he hits the pretty little curls on the feathered pillow every night, the belief will always be there that the love is deep and returned.
There are a lot of good decent people who did not deserve the sellouts and broken promises, having placed all faith and much hard earned equity on a total stranger in exchange for personal responsibility. (Guilty once)
Apparently the judge and jury, Wall Street, saw absolutely no merit engaging in the lovefest tangle. |
