Not a disagreement! I think we have had a lovely exchange! It made my Sunday afternoon.

I thought you were saying that no one could doubt the existence of God on hearing music. But if you are just saying that something very special happens for us when we listen, whether it be because of some neurons firing or communication with God, you will get no argument from me. I don't pretend to understand all the mysteries of the brain-- or of the world. I remain open to it all.

We just lost my husband's father, so went through the planning of a service and all the emotions accompanying this. I played the piano for twenty minutes before the service and it consisted of Bach, Gounod, Pachelbel, and that wonderful military hymn (he was a veteran) God of Our Fathers, which I segued into Abide With Me. It was very emotional for me, because he loved to listen to me play, and I chose pieces that he loved. My husband spoke and one of my sons read a passage from Kahlil Gibran that ended with the line-
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
Which was very touching since he had lost a leg in the war.

I don't think you have to be a Christian or religious to have a sense of mysticism (in the sense of reality beyond our apprehension). While it may not be the shimmering echo of God for me (and that was a beautiful phrase by the way), I understand.
