I've often looked at Quantum as a hedge against global turmoil in the energy markets as well as how it related to National Security and energy independence.
This is a very dark subject, because it potentially suggests a SHTF scenario and major oil disruptions.
We all see what is lining up in the Mid East. We have a "death cult" ISIS that has manifested itself directly in the middle of paths for oil and NG pipelines from the Persian Gulf to Europe.
ISIS has a distinct hatred for all Muslim "sects" that diverge from the original teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. This pretty much includes all existing Islamic countries, to include Iran, which is Shi'a (as well as Persian)..
And now ISIS has ticked off the Kingdom of Jordan, which will have to respond to the threat that is posed to King Abdallah's legitimacy. We may very well see a ground war against ISIS from Jordan.. They really have little choice. Especially since ISIS is eyeing Saudi Arabia and control over the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.. (which they captured from the Hashimites, which resulted in their exile and formation of the Kingdom of Jordan).
But wait.. we've seen oil markets crash in the face of deflation and too much global debt and too little demand. So where's the threat to our national security, as our fracking efforts have led to the US becoming a major producer of oil and Nat Gas?
Well, I saw this article and it tends to substantiate my belief that, at some point, oil will become far too valuable for daily use in transportation. It will be needed for military purposes.. Jet Fuel, Tank Fuel.. etc, etc, etc.. This requires a scenario of global warfare, and a surge to secure oil resources.
So does this recent crash in oil prices, but continued production and strategic storage, of oil suggest that countries are "stocking up"?
That's the crux of this article and I think it is well worth looking at and factoring into the argument for CNG transportation fuels in coming years.
Maybe I'm making too much of this.. That is entirely possible. But if the SHTF and the mid-east erupts into a major Sunni-Shi'a (And Arab-Persian) sectarian conflict, we WILL see major disruptions of oil supplies.
And in such a scenario, CNG will become the major fuel for domestic transportation. Oil will become far too strategic a resource for our vehicles.
