I am not going to do much writing to argue against your points, it is getting labor intensive. To make a long story short: the past - CP/M had the advantage of an applications history and MSFT subsumed that advantage during a paradigm shift.

The present: MSFT has the advantage in applications history and WAN vendors are attempting to subsume that advantage during a paradigm shift (the Internet and platform independant computing).

Again, we seem to be dancing around a very important point here. History has proved that the dominant OS in terms of applications support does not necessarily survive a paradigm shift. If this were true, MSFT would not be dominant today. In fact, it has not happened yet, although it looks as if MSFT will make history. The judges FOF does not reflect this.
