You are so right !!!! The reason the sub $1000 PCs sold like hotcakes is because the PRICE! Of course, there will still be people like to pay little more premium for the high end systems, but not too much more. Besides, other competitors also offered high end products, and DELL is not the only one, but the only vendor which did not offer sub $1000 products. I don't know two years down the road ,when most people and corps realized that they can buy both the high/low end pcs with much lower lower price, what DELL can offer !!! I learn the same lesson as you did!!! Last Dec I bought my first notebook PCs with $3500, and this Aug, the same system was sold for $2000.
